Phonak Paradise hearing aids available from CMD Hearing Care.
Paradise is the latest range of hearing aids released from Phonak. The hearing aids bring a number of developments over the previous very successful Marvel hearing aid range.
The Phonak Paradise hearing aids can detect movement. The aids can therefore modify the microphone and feature settings to help pick out speech and also ensure that the wearer is safe and can ear environmental sounds that are going on around them.
Speech Enhancer and Dynamic Noise Cancellation
New developments within the hearing aids provide significant improvements in noisy environments and the detection of soft speech. The features mean that Phonak Paradise hearing aids perform better than ever in challenging listening situations.
Phonak Paradise hearing aids allow connection to Bluetooth devices and smartphones regardless of whether it is an Apple or Android device. The hearing aids can also connect to more devices so the transfer of connections from one device to another is automatic. For example the aids can be connected to a mobile phone and a tablet at the same time, especially useful at the moment where we are relying heavily on technology to stay in touch whether via the phone or video calling.
Phonak Paradise hearing aids are available now and trial options are available. If you have any other questions or would like to book an appointment to discuss your hearing needs please contact us.
Widex Moment hearing aids available at CMD Hearing Care.
I am pleased to announce that Widex Moment hearing aids are now available through CMD Hearing Care. Widex Moment aids are available in all styles and rechargeable options.
What are the benefits of Widex Moment?
Widex Moment is designed to offer the most natural sound though a hearing aid. Normally sound reaching the ear through a hearing aid is slightly delayed compared to natural sound entering the ear. When natural and hearing aid sounds mix the result can seem artificial.
Widex Moment has been designed to process sound extremely quickly to eliminate the delay in sound passing through the hearing aid. The result is a much more natural listening experience.
Widex has more information on Widex Moment on their website.
If you would like to discuss your hearing needs or would like to make an appointment please contact us.
We are pleased to announce the launch of our online store where you can buy any batteries, accessories or replacement parts for your hearing aids. All items in the store are available with free delivery to the mainland UK.
Earwax is naturally produced by the ear to protect the skin of the ear canal and to trap dust and dirt that enters the ear. Normally earwax works its way towards the opening of the ear canal where it falls out or is washed away.
In some cases wax can build up in the ear canal, this is more likely in older people or hearing aid users. Signs that there may be a wax build up include muffled hearing, earache or tinnitus (ringing or buzzing noises in your ears). Remember, it is important not to try to remove earwax yourself as you may push the wax deeper into your ear or cause damage to your eardrum.
Traditional wax removal methods include syringing, whereby water is flushed into the ear under pressure to wash out ear wax. Ear syringing carries a risk of perforating the eardrum due to the force of the water pressing up against it, consequently many GP practices are reluctant to provide ear syringing services.
Microsuction involves using a microscope or magnifying glasses and a small suction tube to remove wax from the ear. Wax removal in this way does not place any pressure on the eardrum and therefore carries a much lower risk of causing any damage.
Wax removal via microsuction is available through CMD Hearing Care in Leeds and Teesside. Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to make a booking.
For more information on wax removal please see the NHS Website.

Unitron have launched their latest range of hearing instruments based on the Discover Platform. The Discover range of hearing instruments consists of two devices; the Moxi Fit D and the rechargeable Jump R.
Both devices offer automatic adaptation to match their listening environment, development in this area means that selection of the correct sound settings is more accurate than ever. The sound delivery 4.0 system is included in the Discover range, the redesigned speakers offer improved sound quality and comfort.
The Discover range of hearing aids offers direct Bluetooth connectivity to mobile phones (Apple and Android), televisions, tablets and more. Direct connection allows sound to be transferred directly into the hearing aids resulting in superb clear sound. The accompanying app gives the wearer full intuitive control over their hearing aids.
When wearing a hearing aid for the first time, or even changing to a new device it can take a little time to get used to hearing in a new way.
Hearing Loss is Slow
Hearing changes generally occur very gradually over a number of years, consequently we do not notice them day to day and get used to living in a seemingly quiet environment. Environmental sounds slip away unnoticed while the clarity of speech is slowly lost and sounding mumbled or indistinct.
Learning to Listen Again
When wearing a hearing aid for the first time it suddenly brings back many sounds that the wearer did not notice were missing as well as speech becoming clearer. It can take a short while to get used to hearing at this new level while the brain learns which sounds are important to pay attention to and those that are not.
In general it is best to wear hearing aids as much, and as consistently as possible to allow the wearer to adapt and acclimatize to their new new listening environment. There are some systems within the hearing aids that can gradually increase the level of sound they deliver to ease the wearer into their new listening level.
It is often easier for someone to get used to wearing hearing aids if their hearing loss is less severe, therefore the sooner help is sought the better. In addition if someone seeks help earlier there is also a more recent ‘memory’ of some sounds that have gradually disappeared.

Phonak Marvel brings a some key innovations. The speaker system has remained unchanged for a number of hearing aid generations, however for Marvel it has been completely redesigned. When combined with the new sound processor the Marvel aids offer a rich clear sound designed to reduce listening effort. The AutosenseOS 3 sound processor allows the Marvel aids to adapt more precisely to suit the environment they are in.
Bluetooth connectivity is standard across the Marvel range this allows direct connection to mobile phones, televisions and other devices such as music players and tablets. Assistive devices such as remote microphones like RogerDirect can connect directly to significantly improve listening in noisy situations such as restaurants.
Phonak Marvel is available now at CMD Hearing Care, please contact us if you would like to make an appointment or have any questions.
