Ear Wax Removal Services

Ear wax is produced by the ear to protect the delicate skin of the ear canal and to trap dirt and debris that enters the ear. Under normal circumstances wax naturally moves out of the ear canal, however in come situations such as repeated headphone or hearing aid use the wax can be pushed back in leading to a build up.

Traditional methods of ear wax removal involved flushing the ear with water (syringing), although now removal via micro suction is considered a safer option.

What is micro suction?

Micro suction involves using a small vacuum tube to gently draw the wax out of the ear. A microscope or magnifying glasses are used by the clinician to view the ear and carefully remove the ear wax.

Why is micro suction safer?

Traditional syringing involves pushing water under pressure into the ear canal which can produce dizziness and can apply pressure to the ear drum, risking a perforation.
